December 23rd, 2010
Since February, 2009, the responsibility for delivery of the SE program was transferred from the Federal Government over to the Provincial Government. Up until now, the Province has continued to honour the terms and conditions of the contracts that were previously written with the Federal Government.
We are now entering a transition period where the Province is deciding how they will deliver the new Self Employment Program as of April 1, 2012. With the transition period beginning there has already been and will continue to be changes in the way that the Self Employment Program is being delivered.
Effective November 1, 2010 new clients entering the Self Employment Program are eligible for $300/week living support and the maximum contract length is now 48 weeks.
The second big change is one that will affect past clients of Community Futures. As of April 1, 2011 we will not be able to offer free workshops for past SE clients or 1/2 off tuition for our Loan clients.
If you have any questions regarding the changes, please contact Barb Williams, Self Employment Program Coordinator at (250) 352-1933 x 116.
