Simone Schlichting started her business, Valhalla Studios, in 2011. She designs and creates silver and gold jewellery out of her studio near Nelson, BC. Simone, a lifelong horse lover, has a line of jewellery that focuses on horse designs as well as a full line of Art Nouveau style pieces. She travels to horse expos and trade shows, has her work in galleries throughout Canada, and enjoys the benefits of the many local summer markets in the Kootenays.
Simone grew up in the valley below the Valhalla mountain range. Surrounded by an artistic family, including uncles, aunts, cousins, her father and brother, she has had no choice but to follow their fun footsteps into an endless adventure of design and creation. Simone trained under a European Goldsmith and then took those skills into a 10 year career in the Museum industry where she designs and builds custom metal mounts for artifacts on exhibit. As her metal working skills continue to develop so does her sense of awe from studying the ancient art styles and techniques of the artifacts she works with, and inspires her jewellery designs today.
