Expression of Interest: Creston Board Member

Community Futures Central Kootenay (CFCK) is inviting Expressions of Interest from Creston Valley-based business owners and community leaders to join our Board of Directors.

About Community Futures Central Kootenay

CFCK is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs, small businesses, and community economic development across the Central Kootenay region. Our work is guided by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of entrepreneurs and community leaders who generously contribute their time, skills, and lived experience.

Creston Representation

We are currently seeking one Board member to represent the Creston Valley business community. We are especially interested in hearing from younger entrepreneurs and professionals (aged 34 and under) who are engaged in their community and passionate about supporting local business.

Serving on the Board is an opportunity to:

  • Represent Creston at a regional decision-making table
  • Contribute to programs that support entrepreneurs and job creation
  • Build governance, leadership, and board experience
  • Help shape the future of the Central Kootenay economy

The Board of Directors usually meets six times a year on Monday evenings, in Nelson. Meetings may also be attended virtually. There are no meetings in July or August.

About the Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is composed of members from communities across the region, including Nelson, Castlegar, Nakusp, Slocan Valley, Salmo, Kaslo. Our longtime board member representing Creston Valley recently retired.

Board members bring entrepreneurial experience or work in fields that support small businesses, such as finance, legal, human resources, or economic development. Directors are expected to be engaged, collaborative, and connected to their local community.

CFCK is committed to building a Board that reflects the diversity of our region. We welcome expressions of interest from people of all genders, ethnicities, abilities, neurodiverse identities, career stages, and professional backgrounds.

Submitting an Expression of Interest

Expressions of Interest are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Individuals may be contacted if and when Board opportunities arise that align with CFCK’s needs and Board composition.

If you are interested in being considered for a future Board opportunity, please email your expression of interest to aw*****@********bc.ca
